kawagoe
(all pictures taken with nikon d3000 + manual 50mm f/1.4 lens)
friday i took a half-day trip out to kawagoe city, in saitama prefecture. even though it’s considered far away, there’s an express train from ikebukuro station (close to where i live) that takes you there in just half an hour. mostly i walked around the part of the city which consists mainly of old buildings from the edo period of japanese history (蔵造りの町並み, kurazukuri no machinami). of course there were many sakura trees in bloom, and quite a few temples and shrines to visit, so there quite a few out-of-towners (though most of them from other parts of japan) walking around. but most of all, there were so many school kids! it seemed like every schol in the area was holding their commencement ceremony that day.
